Mandarin Oriental hotel

The Mandarin Oriental hotel in Miami, located on Brickell Key, has announced it will permanently close its doors on May 31, 2025, after 25 years of operation. This closure will result in the layoff of 430 employees, as indicated in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) filed with the state.

The closure is part of a strategic plan to demolish the existing structure and develop a new, two-tower complex set to open in 2030. This development will feature an entirely new Mandarin Oriental hotel and The Residences at Mandarin Oriental, Miami. The North Tower will house the new North American flagship Mandarin Oriental hotel, offering 121 rooms—including 34 suites—a signature spa, and multiple fine-dining and al fresco restaurants. Additionally, it will include 66 private residences and 28 hotel residences. The South Tower will feature 228 residences with interiors designed by Parisian designer Tristan Auer.

Mandarin Oriental has expressed deep gratitude to its employees and the Miami community for their support over the past 25 years. The company has committed to providing assistance to the 390 affected employees during the transition period. The closure marks a significant change for the Brickell Key area, as the hotel has been a staple of luxury hospitality in Miami, known for its acclaimed dining and spa services.
