J&J Snack Foods Corp. has announced plans to permanently shutter its “Country Home Bakers” frozen dough plant in Atlanta by October 27, 2025. The decision affects approximately 164 employees, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification filed on August 28, 2025, with the Georgia Department of Labor.
This Atlanta closure is part of a broader strategic initiative by J&J Snack Foods to optimize its manufacturing footprint. The company aims to realize around $15 million in annual pre-tax cost savings through this restructuring.
The Atlanta shutdown follows a similar action earlier in August, when J&J closed its Holly Ridge, North Carolina facility after a fire, impacting 48 workers. Analysts interpret these moves as part of a structural shift and cost-cutting regimen. Despite short-term job losses and one-time charges, J&J is repositioning itself toward operational efficiency and agility in response to inflation, supply chain disruptions, and production inefficiencies across the industry
